Megan Whittemore, President

Megan Whittemore is Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director for U.S. Senator David Perdue. Originally joining the Senate campaign as spokesperson where she helped lead Senator Perdue to a decisive victory in Georgia and retake the Senate Republican majority in 2014. Megan previously served as Press Secretary for House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and was a key member of the House Republican Leadership team. In 2013, Megan was featured on the “PR People To Watch, Rising PR Stars 30 and Under” list by PR News. Megan has extensive broadcast media experience previously covering national politics for Fox News Channel. Megan is originally from New Jersey and a graduate of The George Washington University School of Media & Public Affairs and Graduate School of Political Management.

Press Secretary, Sen. Mike Crapo (R-Idaho)

Robert Sumner serves as Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho).  A native of The Dalles, Oregon, he is a graduate of Willamette University with a degree in politics.  Previously, Sumner served as an appointee to the Office of the United States Trade Representative during the administration of President George W. Bush and has also served in a variety of communications roles for members in the Senate, House of Representatives, and off Capitol Hill for an energy trade association. 

Christine Brennan, Events

Press Secretary, Environment & Public Works Committee & Sen. Tom Carper (D-Delaware) 

Christine Brennan is currently the press secretary for the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, on which Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) serves as the top Democrat. She previously served as the press secretary for the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee. Christine began her career on Capitol Hill working in the House of Representatives, originally for Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and later on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Prior to that, she served in a communications role for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, an nonpartisan non-profit organization that focuses on fiscal policy. Christine grew up in Los Angeles and is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross.

Vanessa Valdivia, Digital

Press Secretary, Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-New Mexico)

Vanessa joined Senator Heinrich’s office after working as the Latino Vote Director in Colorado for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. She began her work on the campaign in Las Vegas during the Nevada caucus where she helped spearhead the Mujeres in Politics program and secured a decisive victory for Secretary Clinton in the primary. Prior to the campaign, Vanessa was an Associate at the Los Angeles based consulting firm Gonring, Spahn and Associates focused on government affairs, philanthropy and political fundraising.  A California native, Vanessa earned her Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Southern California, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global & International Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Ashton Davies, Membership

Communications Director, Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tennessee)

Ashton Davies currently serves as Communications Director for U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), where she oversees the senator’s Tennessee media operation. A Tennessee native, she graduated from the University of Tennessee where she double majored in communications and political science. During her collegiate years, Ashton worked in Knoxville County Mayor Tim Burchett’s press office and on several state and local campaigns in Tennessee.  She was a U.S. Senator Howard Baker scholar and a news anchor for the Tennessee Volunteer Network in addition to serving as an ambassador for the College of Communications. After graduating a semester early, Ashton moved to the nation’s Capital to intern for Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.). She went on to work for Senator Corker and the Republican National Committee during the 2014 election cycle. Ashton has worked in Senator Alexander’s office for three years.

Tyler Hernandez, Events

Communications Director, Sen. Shelley Moore-Capito (R-West Virginia)

Tyler Hernandez serves as Communications Director for U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.). He previously worked in the U.S. House of Representatives where he served first as Press Secretary and then as Deputy Communications Director for the Committee on Education and the Workforce. Tyler also has both private-sector and campaign experience, having worked at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and on the Romney for President campaign in 2012. A Louisiana native, Tyler is a graduate of Tulane University where he earned a degree in Political Science and Communication.

Meredith Jones, Secretary

Press Secretary, Sen. John Kennedy (R-Louisiana)

Meredith Jones currently serves as press secretary for U.S. Senator John Kennedy (R-La.). Prior to that, she served as the Communications Director for Congressman Alex X. Mooney (R-W.Va.) for two years. Before her move to Washington, D.C. Meredith served as the Deputy Communications Director for Governor Bentley’s re-election campaign in Alabama. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Auburn University and always roots for the Tigers!
